Poker, Life and Other Confusing Things

Arthur Reber has been living two parallel lives for half a century. One is as a scholar in the cognitive and psychological sciences where he is the author of several books and scores of scientific articles. Until 2005 he was the Broeklundian Professor of Psychology at Brooklyn College and the Graduate Center, City University of New York. He has held visiting professorships at the University of Innsbruck, Austria and the University of Wales in Bangor, UK. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Association for Psychological Science and the Fulbright Foundation. Now semiretired, he is a Visiting Professor at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.

The other life is as a serious poker player and handicapper of thoroughbred horses. He is the author of two books and over two hundred articles on gambling and poker that have appeared in outlets such as Poker Pro, Fun 'N' Games, Card Player, Poker Digest, Casino Player, Strictly Slots and Titan Poker.

Active in the Poker Players' Alliance, he's lobbied for the legalization of online poker in his home state of Washington, the introduction of Federal regulations and recently outlined a novel framework for evaluating the ethical, legal and legislative issues that emerge in gambling and poker.

He can usually be found sitting at a computer writing or playing poker at the River Rock Casino in Richmond, BC, Canada.
